Dear Women of ECC,

The ECC Women’s Fellowship Program Year begins afresh this month. Our Annual Luncheon (June 28th) includes the election of officers. We gratefully welcome Cassie Miller onto the Women’s Fellowship Executive Board as Chaplin. The Chaplin prepares meditation and prayers for our Executive Board meetings and events like our planned, celebratory Potluck coming up in November. Our slate of officers for 2022-2023 includes Co-Presidents, Penny Gates and Sharon McLaughlin; Secretary, Hospitality Chair and Prudential Rep., Dottie Marshall: Treasurer, Jan Schaeffer; Assistant Treasurer, Janet Wieliczka; Kitchen Chair, Laurie Hazleton; Farmhouse Fair Chair, Jennifer Traynor, Chaplin, Cassie Miller and Program Chair (unfilled as of this writing).

Dates of the Farmhouse Fair are Friday, Nov 4 and Saturday, Nov 5, 2022. The summer is often a wonderful time to work on crafts for the Fair. If you have some ideas, or would like to chair a new booth, please see Jennifer Traynor. Some types of booths/rooms we have had in the past were Sugar Plums (candy), Harvest (with dried flowers), Grandma’s Shoppe (everything from miniature Christmas trees to pot holders to toast tongs) and an Angel Booth. We are seeking additional handcrafted items to sell at the Fairs to help us make our 60th Anniversary Fair the best one ever!

There is a Farmhouse Fair Meeting being held by Zoom on July 26, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. A separate email will be sent out with the link information next month.

Also, please mark your calendars! On Saturday, October 15 in conjunction with the Ellington Historical Society Fall Fair, we will be offering a preview of our Fair. Right now, this will be a few tables manned by Jen T. and Alexis K. It will also be an opportunity to promote the upcoming Fair.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will not be meeting in July or August so their next meeting will be on September 24th (the fourth Thursday of the month) from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Everyone who would like to help is welcome! Please contact Jan Starkweather at 860-875-1543 for more information. Sacred Stitches is meeting on the third Thursday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Social Room. They are meeting over the summer, so the next meeting is on Thursday, July 21, 2022. The blankets (and maybe quilts in the near future) will be sent to Hawkwing. Everyone who wants to sew is welcome to join. Please contact Jan Schaeffer at 860-875-5581 with any questions.

Did you know? Here are a few fun facts about Women’s Fellowship and our Executive Board:

  • Women’s Fellowship pays for an annual commercial cleaning of the kitchen before the Farmhouse Fair. Last year the bill was a hefty $1,200.
  • WF contributed $1,800 to the 2022 General Budget of the Church and makes a contribution every year.
  • WF makes contributions to Safe Grad parties, and our own ministries like Sacred Stitches and Prayer Shawl.

There are 8 members now of the Executive Board, up from 6 last year, most of whom currently also serve on other Boards and Committees such as Missions, Diaconate, Christian Education, Stewardship, Ushers, ReOpening Team, Prudential, Sacred Stitches and Prayer Shawl (not to mention many special projects). There is a lot of overlap of responsibilities by the members of the Women’s Fellowship Executive Board.
Our next Women’s Fellowship Executive Board meeting is Friday, August 5, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. on Zoom. There will not be a Women’s Fellowship Executive Board meeting in July.

Save the Dates! Rally Sunday is Sunday, September 11, 2022 and we will be at Arbor Park following our worship service. More details to follow, but this is an all-church event hosted by our Board of Christian Education and our Growth and Nurture Committee. Everyone is welcome! It will be a fun
afternoon to visit and catch up as we move into one of the busiest times of our church year.

Women’s Fellowship is also planning an all-church potluck on Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the Social Room beginning at 5:00 p.m. This is a celebratory potluck for the success of the Fair and it is for our entire church. More details will be forthcoming.

Blessings,
Penny Gates and Sharon McLaughlin, Co-Presidents
