This ministry was started in 2010 by a small group of women who like to sew.  They decided to make quilts for two very different projects.  First, small quilts are sewn and donated to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Hartford Hospital, where they are used to drape over the incubators to cut down on the amount of light getting to the infants.  Second larger lap-sized quilts are made and donated to Covenant to Care with whom ECC has an ongoing agreement of support for the Social Workers who serve children in the care of DCF.  Each year so far, an average of 20 quilts has been completed for each project.   Come and join the Sacred Stitches sewers on the 2nd Thursday of each month in the Social Room from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  Bring your sewing machine and sewing kit.  We have lots of fabric and patterns available.  Not a quilter?  Not to worry.  We can show you how.  If you are interested or have questions, call Peg Doffek 860-454-7360; Jan Schaeffer 860-875-5581, or Judy White 860-875-6642.   On Consecration Sunday in the Spring, the quilts are displayed in the Sanctuary to be blessed.
