S.E.E.D. & T.E.L.O.S. are collecting new socks for Cornerstone, Hands On Hartford & MACC.

Socks Are Very Important to those experiencing homelessness

  • People without housing often walk many miles each day, which wears out fabric fast.
  • Health Protection: Clean socks prevent foot fungus, blisters, and painful infections.
  • Dignity and Comfort: Fresh socks provide a basic sense of physical comfort and personal dignity.

Socks Are Rarely Donated

  • People usually donate coats, shirts, or blankets instead of undergarments.
  • Donors rarely think of socks because they are a disposable, everyday item.

What to Donate

  • New and Unopened: Brand new socks still in their original packaging.
  • Shelters cannot accept used socks for sanitary reasons, so every donation must be brand new
  • White Crew Socks: Long white athletic crew socks are the best choice.
  • Skip ankle socks, black socks, or thin dress socks because they wear out fast, are less absorbent, and offer poor padding.
